15th Annual Dick Stipanovic Memorial Fishing Tournament Rules

A team is defined as the total number of amateur anglers on any single boat with a minimum of three (3) and maximum of four (4) contestants per boat. Individual fishermen may fish the tournament but cannot weigh-in their catch in any of the team categories. Fish may be taken by rod and reel only, and must be caught during tournament fishing hours, the day of the tournament. All fish must conform to Texas Parks & Wildlife legal limits, and redfish must be within the legal slot. Oversized tagged redfish will not be eligible. Any fish may be rejected by decision of the Weigh Master. Only amateur fishermen may enter the Tournament. An “amateur fisherman” is defined as an individual that does not receive any form of compensation, endorsement, or discounted equipment related to the sport of fishing. Any decisions of the Tournament Chairman are final.

Fishing boundaries: All fish must be caught within the Galveston and Matagorda Bay complexes.

Tournament hours: Fishing begins at 6:30 am. No lines may be in the water prior to that time. All fishermen and fish must be checked in at weigh-in by 2:00 pm. All team members must be present with their fish before 2:00 pm or the team stringer is disqualified.

Tournament Stringer/Weigh-in: The tournament stringer will consist of 3 redfish and 3 speckled trout. The method of measurement will be in accordance with the Texas Parks & Wildlife - from tip of nose to a squeezed tail. Lengths of redfish will be from 20” to 28”. No oversized tagged redfish will be eligible. Team stringers may ONLY include ONE trout 25” or longer. In the event of a tie in weight, the total length of the stringer will determine the winner.

Weigh-in: The weigh-in will be held at theTreasure Island Community Building, 146 Fathom, Freeport, Texas 77541. Weigh-in will begin at 1:00 pm and will close at 2:00 pm. Any fishermen not in line with their fish at 2:00 pm, will be disqualified from the tournament and if a late fisherman is fishing with a team, that team will be disqualified from the team competition. Once checked in at the weigh-in, all fishermen must remain in line until their individual weigh-in is complete.

All fish submitted at weigh-in become the property of the tournament.

Largest fish: Only one (1) trout, redfish and flounder from a single stringer can be entered in each category. Only one (1) prize per angler will be awarded. In case of a tie, the angler’s total score will determine the winner.

All-Around Fisherman: Each individual angler may enter one (1) trout and one (1) redfish. In the case of a tie, the largest single trout will determine the winner.

Any additional rulings are at the discretion of the Weigh Master.
