Our Dick Stipanovic Memorial Fishing Tournament has successfully attracted more fishermen and fisherwomen, sponsors, and great friends every year and will no doubt be one of the top fishing tournaments on the Gulf Coast thanks to you and your participation. The tournament includes an early registration on Friday evening, a kids’ fishing tournament, live and silent auctions, and an awards dinner.

TOURNAMENT RULES


1. Late Registration will occur on 8/2/2024 at Pluggers Pub, 1292 Fisher St, Matagorda, TX 77457 From 5-7pm

2. Fishing will begin 5am 8/3/2024, lines out of water by 3:30pm on 8/3/2024. You may fish anywhere that is legally accessible to the general public. No check in is required on tournament day prior to fishing.

3. Must be paid in full prior to fishing. All entries will be accepted up to 7/29/2024, after 7/29/2024 team/boat must pay in person at Pluggers Pub on 8/2/2024.

4. Any angler who shows any un-sportsman-like conduct will be disqualified from the tournament.

5. All anglers must follow all directions at the weigh station. They will be clearly posted. No line cutting will be accepted. If you have received your ticket and weigh slip from the gate entrance committee and it is stamped with our date/time stamp by 4pm you will weigh your fish. Name must be filled out prior to arriving at the weigh table.

6. All anglers must sign release form prior to fishing.

7. All fish must be caught on rod & reel, live or artificial bait. No trapping, trout lines, gigging angler caught in these acts will be disqualified and banned from all future events hosted by Hold 'Em & Hit 'Em Club.

8. Any fish that appears to be altered or tampered with in any way, shape or form are grounds for an automatic disqualification of said fish (even if cause is from natural causes). All decisions made by Weighmaster and tournament officials are final. In some cases, a Texas Game Warden may be present.

9. Any fish disqualified by Weighmaster cannot be replaced with another fish. If wrong fish is chosen for a category, fish cannot be replaced with another fish. The fish you pick is the fish you enter. Do not bring more fish to the weigh station than you will be entering into the tournament. There will be no culling in weigh in line. If more fish are brought to the weigh station than are being entered into the tournament, you will be moved to the back of the line to have time to sort your fish. 10. No oversized fish will be allowed in any category. All anglers must abide by all governing laws as to size, bag limit.

11. Hold 'Em & Hit 'Em Club reserves the right to polygraph any angler, under any circumstances.

12. Heaviest stringer will consist of up to three (3) speckled trout and two (2) redfish.

13. Trout division is speckled trout only, no sand trout will be accepted in said category. Sand trout will only be accepted in the heaviest other category.

14. SidePot trout, Sweet 17, is the closest to 17" without going over. In case of a tie, winner will be first angler to weigh in. Anglers will pick their fish for this side pot, it can be separate from your teams stringer fish or included. It is not up to weigh officials to pick. Once entered on weigh in sheet it cannot be changed.

15. One (1) of your two (2) redfish from your stringer must be used for your heavy redfish side pot. The Team Captain must pick which fish is heavier, the weigh team will not pick your fish entry or weigh multiple fish to determine which is the heaviest.

16. Weigh-in starts at 2pm on 8/3/2024 and closes at 4pm on 8/3/2024 at Matagorda Tournament Pavilion at the Matagorda Harbor. You must be in line by 4pm for fish to count. Time will be kept by tournament Chairman. A tournament committee member will be in the back of the line at 4 pm for line cut off.

17. All anglers are to have their valid photo Texas ID along with valid Texas fishing license in hand before you get to weigh station. Any angler who does not have them on their persons or five (5) minutes away will be disqualified (cannot extend past 4pm 8/3/2024)

18. You may trailer anywhere on the Texas Gulf Coast. Weigh in closes at 4pm sharp. Allow to time to get in. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

19. All fish must have been caught on Tournament Day from 5am to 3:30 pm. Any fish that appears to have been frozen or dead for an extended period of time will be disqualified.

20. In case of tie in all categories, first weighed fish will be declared winner. (Excluding Blackjack trout which is listed in Rule#14.)

21. All members of Team must be present at weigh-in. NO EXCEPTIONS! Only Team Captain will be allowed in weigh in line.

22. All protests must be submitted in writing to the HHC Tournament Chairman no later than 4:30pm the day of the tournament with a $100 cash deposit. If protest is upheld, deposit will be returned. If protest is not upheld, cash will be retained by tournament. HHC fishing committee will make all decisions before the awards are presented. In some cases, Texas Game Wardens may be included. All decisions are made final by the tournament director.

23. All participants in the tournament enter at own risk. Tournament committee, members, and a ll persons connected directly or indirectly with the operation of the 2024 be exempt from any liability for loss, damage, negligence, harm or injury suffered to any spectator, entrant, sport fisherman, their companions, boat captains, crew members, vessels, and equipment which may occur during tournament. Each angler must sign form as stated in Rule #6.

24. Tournament Chairman/committee will determine that the weather is not suitable to fish, a refund will be issued. Email the HHC Fishing Tournament Chairman at Fishing@hhclub.org prior to 8/2/2024. The decision will be final.

25. A boat/team will consist of up to four (4) anglers. All four names must be on the Team Registration form and a signed Release form for each member of the boat/team.

26. All boats/teams will fish in a single division for this tournament. Guides may fish in this tournament as any other angler. Teams may use a guide for tournament day. If the guide is not named as part of the 4-person team than they may not contribute any fish to the team's entry.
